The Troop is an epic 35mm CinemaScope short film featuring The King's troop Royal Horse Artillery. It had a Royal premiere at Bafta following which Her Majesty The Queen requested a copy to screen to her Christmas guests at Sandringham.

The Troop features the voice of Oscar-winner Sir John Mills and a sweeping musical score performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It was produced and directed by Marcus Dillistone and shot to feature-standards by Oscar-nominated cinematographer Alex Thomson BSC ('Excalibur', 'Hamlet', Alien 3').

In 2017 the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in Hollywood (oscars, org) selected The Troop film as its chosen case-study for film-to-digital restoration using the Academy's new ACES methodology. The Academy's support will open-up exciting new digital screening opportunities around the world.

Because 35mm film now fast becoming obsolete this digitising work is vital. We now seek funding partners (and in-kind logistical assistance) to help ensure that this high-profile heritage film is protected for future generations to enjoy.
